Welcome to "Somebody Once Told Me" ("the App"). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our app.
Personal Information: When you sign in with Google, we collect your name, email address, and profile picture to personalize your experience.
Recommendation Data: We store the movies, TV shows, books, music, and podcasts you add to your lists, including titles, descriptions, completion status, and any notes you add.
Usage Data: We may collect anonymous usage statistics to improve the app experience, such as feature usage and performance metrics.
Your recommendations are stored securely in our database to enable cross-device synchronization — so you can access your lists from any device. We implement appropriate security measures including encryption and access controls to protect your information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Your personal recommendations remain private to your account only.
Your privacy is paramount: While your recommendations are stored in our database for cross-device access, your individual lists remain completely private to your account. When we analyze trending data to improve the app experience, all data is completely anonymized — we never tie recommendations to either the recommender or the recommendee. We only see content titles and categories, with zero personal identifiers. There's no way for us to connect trending data back to specific users.
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to third parties. Your individual recommendation lists and personal data remain completely private to you. We only share data when required by law or to protect our rights.
When you use Import from Notes or Voice Add, the text you paste or speak is sent — through our secure server — to OpenAI to extract and categorize recommendations. Voice Search audio is sent to OpenAI for transcription. This information is processed only to provide the feature and is not used to train AI models. Please do not paste sensitive information you would not want processed this way.
Paid subscriptions are processed by Apple and managed through RevenueCat. We never receive or store your payment card details — we only receive your subscription status so we can unlock paid features.
If you use the referral program, we store a referral code linked to your account and a record of referrals you make or redeem, so we can grant the associated rewards.
We use Mixpanel to collect anonymous, aggregated product analytics — such as which features are used — to help us improve the app. This data is not used to identify you personally.
